Once you enter this log home you will be welcomed with the airiness of the twenty-eight foot ceiling and the tropical art work throughout. The open concept living room, dining room and newly remodeled kitchen will allow you to visit and enjoy your vacation with all of your family members. New coastal furnishings decorate the living room. Enjoy watching the flat screen tv using your Netflix account or satellite. Listen to music via the bluetooth speaker. The two bedrooms are extremely large and come with ensuite bathrooms. The master suite has a king size bed, while the second suite has two queen beds. For those who need extra sleeping room the open loft is equipped with a king & twin bed. A third washroom/laundry room (washing machine) is available on the main floor. Beautiful linens, bath towels, and beach towels have been carefully chosen to make your stay comfortable.
Orchid Cottage, next door, is a bright and lovely Bahamian style cottage. The open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen areas allow for your entire group to interact during cooking, eating, & family activities. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need to prepare your meals and it also offers the convenience of a washing machine. The cathedral ceiling gives the cottage an airy feeling and a central wooden staircase leads to a loft area.
The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the second bedroom with a king bed that can be converted into two twin beds. Between the two bedrooms is a three piece bathroom. The large walk-in shower is decorated with sea pebbles, sea glass, and shells embedded in the floor.
Both the main house, Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage have AC throughout. Both the house and cottage have ceiling fans throughout. Other amenities include WIFI, satellite TV, Netflix, smart TV, as well as games and books.
You'll pass your time at Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage lounging on the wrap around deck, cooking on the grill, reading a book on the hammock, or just relaxing in the deck chairs. The two outdoor showers make showering after a day at the beach convenient and adventurous.
A short walk down our path takes you to a breathtaking, deserted Atlantic Ocean beach where you can beach comb, snorkel, suntan, or get lucky enough to swim with dolphins. A ten-minute walk along the beach or cottage road will take you to Sky Beach Club and Pascal's Restaurant where you can enjoy a cocktail at the swim-up bar or dine while taking in the view of the Atlantic Ocean. The infinity pool and hot tub are open to the public. Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage are located on a quaint cottage road, with easy access to the Queen's Highway through a private gated road.
Enjoy a catered meal and Bahamian cocktails at Shangri-La. The caterers will shop for local seafood and produce, prepare the meal, and provide clean up. This is a truly Bahamian experience that all of our guests enjoy!

We had a wonderful time at Shangri-La & Orchid Cottage. We were a group of ten people and the houses fit everyone just fine. They were stocked with all the appliances, sunscreens, bug sprays, beach accessories, and many, many more things that we needed. LaChadra was the best caretaker! We contacted her a few times when the internet went down and when we had car problems. She took care of everything quickly and with such a positive and pleasant attitude. The beach was a short walk over a hill and we mostly had it all to ourselves. We saw many other beaches and even saw turtles, dolphins, rays, and a barracuda. What a wonderful trip!

Our group of 9 stayed at Shangra-La and Orchid cottages over the Thanksgiving holiday and absolutely enjoyed our stay. We rented 3 cars from Chad, who is also the property manager. She was at the airport when we arrived with the warmest welcome. We cannot speak highly enough of Chad; her attention to detail, quick response to anything we asked and her welcoming disposition. The houses are located in the central part of the island which made it an easy drive to either southern or northern points. Both houses have a clothes washer which was huge since we were there for 10 days. They are decorated beautifully and have everything you would need or want. The climb down/up from the beach is very steep, so most of us used the beach in front of Pascal's with stairs. We walked down the dirt road to Pascal's to see Sammy the bartender many of the days .... maybe too many! We didn't do the Friday fish fry in town, but we do highly recommend Buccaneers for breakfast, Eleuthera Island Farm for bread/olives/everything amazing, Tippy's for music and LaBougaivillea for all day decadent eating lounging by their upscale pool. A day trip to Spanish Wells is a must. Buddah's for lunch and The Shipyard for dinner is a must. Harbor Island was too busy for us. We would recommend staying at either Shangra-La or Orchid cottages as you will not be disappointed!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage. We truly appreciate your feedback and comments. Our beach is amazing and it changes from one day to the next. There are many days when the ocean is so still and calm that you can see the angel fish swimming around your feet. On the days where there are waves, we enjoy boogie boarding and body surfing. It is an amazing beach where we enjoy long walks, beach combing, and snorkeling by the reef. There are times when we choose to sit in a beach chair with a cooler bag full of snacks and drinks and enjoy Eleuthera's perfect weather. In the twelve years that we have been visiting Eleuthera we have thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing.There is so much to see and so much to enjoy in each settlements. The hundreds of beaches along this 110 mile long island are among the most beautiful in the world. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and awarded SL & OC an A+ rating. We would love to welcome you and your large group back to Shangri-La and Orchid Cottage next year.
