Welcome to Sandy Hill Beach House! Open the front doors to this stunning 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom beach house (which also has a 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest cottage) and you are greeted by breathtaking views of the turquoise and coral ocean filling the entire room!
We are located on the Banks Road, the most sought-after location on Eleuthera, a 3 minute drive from the beautiful and quaint town of Governors Harbour, where you will find everything from grocery stores, gas stations, coffee shops, liquor stores and restaurants which offer great views of picturesque Cupids Cay and the Caribbean. Here you can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch or simply sit with a wine or coffee and watch the activity of this charming little village.
Sandy Hill is decorated in light neutral tones framed with antique wood beams, floor to ceiling custom antiqued wood, and white painted walls which bring the vibrant outdoor colours of the Caribbean to the inside. Floors throughout the home are covered in a beautiful sand coloured tumbled marble.
The main house is constructed in 3 pods each connected to the main living area by glass breezeways, allowing for quiet and privacy in the bedroom areas. The north and south pods (wings) of the house each contain a queen size bedroom with a TV, and a bunk room with a double bottom and single top bunk bed. Each of the two wings have a full bath, which the two bedrooms share. All bedrooms have large windows and sliding glass doors with incredible ocean views. They have high vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, and closets with shelves for easy storage of clothes, and access to a covered porch area with table and chairs. One bathroom has a bathtub with shower and the other a full shower. Both bathrooms have custom made vanities and mirrors, and are bright and modern.
The central pod is the main area. It features partial high-vaulted ceilings constructed in wood, and offers a very cozy living space with wall-to-wall glass doors overlooking the ocean. The kitchen has a large island and bar stools and is fully equipped with all the necessities you will find at home. The dining table seats 10 comfortably and is strategically placed so all guests have an ocean view. The sitting room has cozy over-sized sofa and chairs and wall TV. Soft carpeting gives a luxurious feel when relaxing in this area. This area also has a powder room with a washer/dryer.
Above the living area is the upstairs master bedroom, which has a king size bed. The master features a balcony with panoramic views up and down the beach and a beautiful sunny en suite bathroom with large shower.
The laundry room with new stackable washer and dryer holds all laundry necessities. This room also has cabinets for storage, a bathroom area, and a built in wall safe with key or code entry for safe keeping of valuables. We now have superfast Starlink internet!
The one bedroom guest cottage is located on the west side of the house, and features a queen bed and full bath with shower. It is available for an additional charge of $1400 per week, which also pays for 2 extra guests.
Sandy Hill Beach House’s large and magnificent outdoor area has a covered patio with a dining area and gas grill, also in tumbled marble continued from the interior, with steps down to a large custom-built cedar deck, comfortable sitting area with sofas, tables and lounges. This outdoor area is set on top of the dune with spectacular views of the ocean and pink sand beach below. A stunning infinity pool which appears to spilling down the sandy hill into the water below will keep you cool and refreshed. The pool can be heated for an optional fee of $600/week. An outdoor shower with hot and cold water is provided.
Custom built wooden steps from the outdoor area lead down to the ocean and miles of pink sand. Enjoy our two sea kayaks! A five-minute walk down the beach will bring you to famous Tippy’s restaurant and beach bar.
Rates are for up to 8 guests. Add $525/week for each additional guest.

A beautiful, well maintained property in a great location. The beach is down a bit of a hill and stairs which may challenge some but the pool is great too. Sherry coordinated transportation and cooked us a wonderful meal one night. Denise was also responsive. Tippy’s just down the road is a good option for meals.
Our group of 8 really enjoyed riding side-by-sides to see the lighthouse; good, fun time.

Sandy Hill Beach House was a wonderful location for our family vacation. The house was exactly as described. Both the inside and the outside were spotless. The pictures show the house but don’t capture the true beauty. The views from every room were spectacular but the views from the deck and pool are indescribable. I have never seen so many shades of blue/green in my life. The beach was beautiful and we had it mostly to ourselves. There were 4 nice (Tommy Bahama) beach chairs and 2 very nice beach umbrellas. Also, there were misc snorkels, masks and fins. The walk to Tippy’s was easy, but the food and drinks were only OK, nothing special but the view. The Buccaneer Club was very good. We also used Cocojo to provide drinks, they were wonderful, and I highly recommend them. Matt was great to work with and quick to respond. All in all, it was a great house and we would gladly return.

Sandy Hill Beach house was the perfect place to celebrate my big birthday with family and friends. The house itself is beautiful and equipped with everything you could wish for. The pool was sparkling clean and as we were right on the most beautiful stretch of the pink sandy French Leave beach, the view was second to none. We could walk along the beach to Tippys restaurant and snorkel straight off the beach too. The last week we were there we even had dolphins playing in the shallows right next to us. It was simply heaven! The beds were so comfortable and the air con and all the appliances worked so well which often is not the case in a rental. I always use eleutheravacationrentals through Matt Simon when we come to the Bahamas and once again he didn’t disappoint. There was a large group of us on the island and Matt arranged rentals close by each other which worked very. The house owner was really helpful and always easily contactable. There is no doubt we will be back!

This home, the view, and the setting takes your breath away. We knew this would be a nice place, but we were in awe of how truly incredible it was. What a treat to stay at such a beautiful home, on the most exquisite beach. The sand, water, and views were perfection. The home was well equipped and beautifully furnished. The only thing that took away from our enjoyment were the bugs & bites on this island - if we can find a remedy for that we will be back as often as possible. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! The noseeums can be pesky if you are allergic to them, but you can avoid them. If they are present at all, they will come out at dusk and in the evening, so they won’t be a problem during the day. Mosquito repellant often works. Another popular solution is baby oil. The little bugs can’t bite through a layer of oil. Worse case, you always wear a pair of long pants and socks, because they go after legs and ankles. The evenings are usually comfortable, so you can wear long pants outside if necessary. The bite of a noseeum is not very bothersome, but don't make the mistake of ignoring them if you are allergic to them. As soon as you feel the first little bite, put on your long pants, or your baby oil, or go inside. Otherwise, if you are allergic to their bites, you will wake up a day or two later with many itchy bumps on your legs.

Very beautiful and comfortable home on Banks Road. House is designed just perfectly with incredible view of ocean from every room! Lots of light everywhere and lots of space. Manager greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Loved all the sitting areas about the property where little groups could hang out and visit. Kitchen has absolutely everything you need to cook meals. Favorite restaurant was La Bougainvillea about 5 minutes down the road. Took a fishing trip one day and caught barracuda and grouper! Grilled at the house and it was delicious! Beach is lovely and the sand is like powdered sugar. Easy walking going either way. Pool was delightful and we spent hours in it just enjoying the sun and the views. Saw dolphins one morning; a real treat! If you think you'd like to stay here book early; the calendar seems to fill up quickly. You will not be disappointed in a stay at Sandy Hill!

We were a family of 14 celebrating an 80th birthday. The house was beautifully decorated and had the most awesome views!! The beach is so soft, has pink sand and is virtually deserted. Didn't use the pool that much since weather was a little cool but it has a beautiful view as well with the infinity edge. House has everything you need if you want to cook. Very well appointed. Walked down the beach to eat at Tippy's a few times. They have decent food and good bands at night. Also had dinner in town at Bougainvillea which was delicious. They have nice outside seating under a huge tree. Be sure to visit the nature preserve right down the road from villa which you can walk to. They have lots of trails. Took the ferry to Harbor Island for the day to check it out. It was OK. Recommend you spend a day or 1/2 day on a boat tour. We went with Capt. Kid & Sons. Price was very reasonable since we had 12 people on the boat. Got to swim with the pigs, snorkel in area that had lots of fish and coral, checked out a wreck and ended tour on Sand dollar island which is just a huge white sand bar that comes up in the ocean which is pristine. Our Xmas week there was extremely windy the entire time so it was hard to snorkel off our beach since waves were huge every day. Sandy Hill is a perfect place to relax.

Based on previous reviews, we packed a bag with several frozen foods and they were still frozen by the time we arrived. Worked out perfectly and was much appreciated for something the eat after arrival.
The layout of Sandy Hill was perfect for our family. We used master upstairs and each family with 2 children ea had a pod with plenty of privacy.

The location is one of the best on the island, plenty of privacy but a 15 minute walk down the beach to Tippys. Sheryll was a great property manager and if u want an authentic Bahamian dinner cooked for ur group while u have a drink on the beach highly recommend her. Pool is simply awesome and the view is great. Can't wait to return.

From the moment you walk up to the front door you knew this home was SPECTACULAR! With every step through the house and toward the pool area the excitement builds, and then there you are overlooking the most amazing backdrop! We traveled as a family ranging in age from 8 months old to 68 years old and was a little nervous about the logistics of traveling to the island. Mike and Tara made the process stress free. Tippy’s was a great little place to walk to for a before dinner drink, an after dinner drink or what the heck a drink while enjoying a dinner there...the food was great! We also had a dinner prepared for us at the house by Sheri and that was just perfect! Sandy Hill Beach House is the perfect vacation spot! Ten of us ranging in age from 1 year old to 84 spent a week here in November 2018. The house was immaculate and very well decorated, furniture was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils and had everything we needed to cook many meals.
The views from the house and on the private/secluded beach were incredible! We loved the multiple outdoor seating areas on the back porch and by the pool. The views are exactly as depicted in the rental pictures and can not be beat! We visited a couple of other beaches during our stay, and the beach at Sandy Hill was by far the best!
We brought our own beach towels and life jackets for the kids but were pleased to see that the house had all of these things for us. We'll leave those items behind next time.
Howard was so friendly and very attentive to any needs we had during our stay. It was nice visiting with him when he stopped by to check on us and the house.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, house in paradise, Sandy Hill is it. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Sandy Hill Beach House was our vacation home for seven family members. The house is beautiful - if anything, even nicer than depicted in the photographs. The interior layout was perfect for us. It is well-appointed with all the comforts of home. They’ve seemingly thought of everything. Outside, the deck is spacious and the infinity pool is spectacular. The beach? It is perfection - and virtually deserted. It was not unusual for us to spend hours on the beach without seeing another person.
Regarding restaurants, our favorite was Buccaneer Club. Good food, family friendly and incredibly nice staff and owners. Also went to Tippy’s multiple times, mostly due to the convenient location. I had high hopes prior to our trip because we could walk there. We were disappointed. Mediocre food and way overpriced.

This home is wonderful and the caretaker, Howard, was such a stand-up guy. We just loved him and the Sandy Hill home. The pool and view are just like you see in the pictures. The deck furniture and living area furniture were so comfortable. We were happy with how upscale the kitchen and utensils were and loved everything about the beach, location and home. The way the bedrooms are laid out is perfect for having some private space. Go to the La Boganvillia for lunch or dinner at the beach bar, it's very nice.
There are three things you should know going in. Pay extra for an extra bag and bring coffee, spices, peanut butter, and anything you'd like to have. Food there is very limited there, meat is hard to come by. I brought a few things but paying an extra $50 for an additional bag would have been worth it and we would have had a bigger choice of food. Watch the pot holes! we bent a rim and that was a costly mistake....and lock the doors even when your home. We had 10 people there, the TV was on and while most were asleep there was one of us in the pool at about 4 in the morning and someone came in and lifted a BUNCH of money from the living area. I think you're totally safe there, I believe them to be petty thieves but the police said it happens on the island and you just need to lock up at night. There is a safe there, so use it....other than that, the island is wonderful, the house is fabulous and the wedding/family reunion was really a special time that we will remember for the rest of our lives....

I represent over 100 properties on Eleuthera and bring 10,000 people a year to the island. A few times a year, something like this happens. So it is rare, but not unheard of. As I advise in the check in instructions for this house and all houses, lock up the house when you go out or go to sleep, and you will be fine. No one is ever attacked or hurt, but this kind of theft can happen, so use the same common-sense security practices you would use anywhere else. Regarding groceries: There are two true supermarkets on the island, and one of them will deliver and pre-stock your house for you. I would recommend that, and it's easier than bringing food in a suitcase.

This home is truly as lovely as others have said. Since they've already said that, I'll fill in some details about questions we had prior to leaving home.
We had 14 in our family, six school-age kids, eight adults. We followed Matt's suggestion that we ask The Market Place grocery store (like an old-time IGA and 45 minutes away) to pre-stock a few days of food for us. The online process is very simple. The store concierge will call you with any questions she has about your order. In the comment section, you can request things you don't see on the website. They might have them. Pre-stocking the food was a huge help! We arrived hungry late in the day. Kids didn't want to travel one more minute. They needed to play/swim, not sit in restaurant chairs.
The house has a filled spice rack and has soap/tissue in all the bathrooms. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner. You may --may!-- also find some other helpful "left-behinds" like baggies, foil, cooking oil, sugar, laundry soap, and sunscreen/bug spray. We used up many of the odd ends of bug spray, then left one of our own.
For folks with food allergies/sensitivities: Market Place and Burrows (the tiny local grocery store) both carry gluten-free pasta. Neither has GF waffles or baked products. Neither had any nut butters besides peanut. Both had non-dairy "milks" (almond/soy).
The welcome materials say it's safe to drink the water if you're staying in a house on the municipal water line, but doesn't say if Sandy Hills is on the line. The blue pipes in the front yard indicate that it is on the municipal water line and the owner confirmed it for us. So we stopped cooking with bottled water and used the ice the freezer makes.
There are classic games (like bingo), cards, and a puzzle or two in the ottoman.
There are a few life jackets and some snorkel gear in the bin on the deck. More can be rented/purchased in town. Bring your water shoes. The local prices for
