Poponi Cottage is a private studio apartment 100 paces from a mile-long, deserted pink-sand beach. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, Poponi is located on the second floor with a garage beneath. Water views are available from the balcony. Poponi Cottage shares a 4 acre beachfront estate with Poponi House. The house and cottage have good privacy from each other. There is great snorkeling off our beach! Two beachfront restaurant/bars are walking distance down the beach: Unique Village, 10 minutes, and La Bougainvillea 15 minutes.
Poponi’s kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, blender, and toaster. The sleeping area is a queen size bed and a full bath with walk-in shower. The comfortable living area has a TV, DVD, cable & WiFi. The double glass doors open to a balcony with chairs, grill and outdoor dining table. There is an outdoor shower downstairs. The cottage is fully air conditioned.
Poponi Cottage is centrally located near the settlement of North Palmetto Point which has several grocery shops, pharmacy and restaurants. The historic town of Governor's Harbour, the main town on the island, is a ten minute drive from the property. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, banks with ATM’s, gift shops, liquor stores, dive shop, bakery, and half a dozen excellent restaurants. One or another of the restaurants/bars will have live music almost every night of the week. You can also buy the fresh catch of the day to grill at home from the town dock.
We love children but unfortunately this house is not suitable for kids, so we do require all guests to be age 18 or older.

Everything was amazing! We absolutely loved Poponi Cottage. It was the perfect spot for 2 people. Missy was very helpful and made sure our stay was the best it could be. I have zero complaints and would rent this place again for our next visit! Snorkeling on the beach was great and the best part, very secluded!!

We searched online for an island paradise and found it on Eleuthera. Poponi Cottage is exactly as described in the posting! The accommodation is perfect for a couple. The gentle breeze in the evening means you don't need to use air conditioning. The beach is in front of the main house and a 2-minute stroll from the cottage through lush vegetation. The landscaping is well manicured and invites leisurely evenings on the deck. The private beach is beautiful and sandy, perfect for swimming or lounging. We stayed for 10 days on this trip and hope to make it longer next year. Our host Rick was very responsive to the few requests we had because everything was set up to allow us to have a turnkey experience with just the right amount of privacy.

I'll start by saying, I would absolutely return to this location for vacation. It was exactly as described and from what I could tell one of the nicer locations to stay. The cottage was just enough for my fiance and I. It was so cozy and included all the amenities. The best part was the beachfront. The beach looks like the picture...perfect. We only saw a couple of people here and there on the beach making it feel like our own private beach. Missy was very kind and was available if needed. Two thumbs up!
Tip: definitely rent an SUV, the secondary roads are more like trails. The island is very expensive so be prepared. Directions around the island are not great, especially the first couple of days. Lastly, the food truck next to Burrows store has amazing sandwiches and salads for decent prices.

This garage apartment is located behind the main house. The stairs are a little steep, but the apartment itself is well appointed and clean. It has a deck high enough to overlook the main house and see the beach. My son and his wife actually stayed here, while my wife and I took the main house. For additional space, it worked well.
Rick was a great host. Only saw him when you needed him. I would suggest having a dinner game plan prior to arrival. The road is quite dark, and some places are only open a few nights a week. Tippys is good. Beaugonvillea is walkable up the beach, but be prepared for the price. We were there for a couple of weeks, so we tried everything. To be honest, the best diinners were going to Island Farm for spiced chicken and vegs, then cooking on the grill.
Most beautiful beach I have ever seen. That overcomes a lot.

it was spotless don't be put of by the pededtrian exterior the room is spacious light and beautiful and every night I listened to the waves snd gazed at the stars from the deck. Rick was wonderful and available when needed and left me to my own devices otherwise

unfortunately it my wife broke her leg and I ended up going with my son. They graciously provided a mattress we could through on the floor. Breezes kept us cool at night. We were out all day every day exploring and snorkling and ended up never needing the AC. While it wasn't the romantic escape with my wife i planned my son and I had a blast.

We loved our stay at Poponi cottage! The central location was great for exploring Eleuthera's many beautiful beaches and the Poponi property - with the hammock, cabana, and the beach just steps away from the cottage - was perfect for relaxing away from it all. There is another guest house on the property but most of the time we felt that we were on our own deserted island. What an incredible island retreat, we only wish we could have stayed longer!
